Age groups

Our Focus

At Kanhas, we primarily focus on two age- groups:

Krishna Group:(2.5 – 4 years)

Children  who turn 3 complete by 30th April of the current academic year are eligible for Krishna group. For this age group we mainly focus on:

  • Spoken language development
  • Pre-writing activities
  • Letter and number recognition
  • Counting
  • Colouring, pasting and scissor skills
  • Fine and gross motor skills development
  • Self management – (personal hygiene, eating etc)
  • Emotion management – (recognize and respond correctly to anger, sadness etc.)
  • Social skills – (team-work, co-operation, sharing etc.)
  • Creativity and imagination

Our main goal for this age group is to ease the transition of a child from home to a group learning environment (in most cases, the child’s first experience of prolonged absence from the parents). We strive to equip these students with all the basic skills necessary to remain comfortable in an academic environment. For eg. a child cannot participate successfully in academic projects if he/she lacks basic scissor skills or does not know how to hold a pencil correctly. Similarly a child will struggle to learn writing, if they don’t have good wrist and finger control (fine motor skills).

Balram Group: (4 – 5.5 years)

Children  who turn 4 complete by 30th April of the current academic year are eligible for Balram group. For this age group we mainly focus on:

  • Emerging reading and writing skills
  • Emerging numerical ability
  • Value based personality development
  • Basic philosophical understanding of Krishna Conscious culture
  • Communication skills – self-expression through various media
  • Physical development
  • Exploring the world we live in
  • Social skills – (taking responsibility, group work etc)
Our detailed curriculum can be found on the Curriculum page.
Our main goal for this age group is to give them a strong foundation of basic literacy and numeracy skills while studying the Vedic Scriptures. This will give them an edge in their future academic environment of school.
